MK Brass had many requests to perform for street parties, schools, and community events over the platinum weekend but in an attempt not to permanently bruise our cornet players’ lips we stuck to just the 2 performances on the Sunday for our full band, with smaller groups performing in schools during the week.

The weather wasn’t looking too hopeful at first as we made our way to Cosgrove Park for a lunchtime performance by the lake. Luckily, gazebos kept the light drizzle from ruining the music as we played classics such as I Vow To Thee My Country, The Floral Dance, Greensleaves, and A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square before Duncan Bruce our Solo Euphonium wowed the ducks on the lake and audience outside the cafe area with Blaydon Races.

We then made our way to Hanslope village where the High Street was closed as villagers joined their tables together to eat, drink and be entertained by many performers during the afternoon.

MK Brass have a long-standing relationship with Hanslope – performing annually in the village church and playing carols around the streets at Christmas time. We finished their jubilee celebrations with Famous British Marches, Pomp and Circumstance and got the crowd singing along to Queen classic, Don’t Stop Me Now before finishing with the National Anthem.
