Milton Keynes Brass Quintet add a musical theme to 90th birthday celebrations
A quintet from our Milton Keynes Brass ensemble had the pleasure of performing at a very special 90th birthday celebration. Musicians Matt Ball, Duncan Bruce, Georgie Cockerill, Angie Gooding, and Tim Flach serenaded the birthday crowd with a delightful mix of tunes chosen by the family, including the heartfelt “Danny Boy,” the classic “My Way” by Frank Sinatra, “The Floral Dance,” and the spirited “633 Squadron.
A Blustery Start to the Bandstand Season
The Milton Keynes Brass bandstand season started early on 7 April this year and it was certainly a windy weekend with gusts of up to 40 miles per hour. Despite sandbags, pegs and magnets to hold everything together, music blew off and even the instruments had to be kept under control.
3rd place for Milton Keynes Brass at the London & Southern Counties Brass Band Contest!
The 3rd placing was enough to secure the band a provisional place in the Championship section for next year and an initiation to the national finals in Cheltenham in September this year.

Milton Keynes Brass Impresses at Welsh Open Brass Band Entertainment Championship
On Saturday 17 February , the Welsh Open Brass Band Entertainment Championship witnessed an outstanding performance by Milton Keynes Brass, leaving a lasting impression on both judges and the audience. The band’s captivating theme, “Kings and Queens,” featured repertoire that showcased their musical competence. Under the direction of conductor Matt Brown, Milton Keynes Brass presented “The Crowning” by Jonathan Bates, “Castell Caerfyrddyn” by Alex McGee, a stunning solo performance on Soprano Cornet by Martin Groves of Mozart’s “The Queen of the Night Aria,” from “The Magic Flute”, “The Boy King” by Jonathan Bates, and Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King.”

On Friday 26 January 2024, over 60 trivia enthusiasts gathered for the much-anticipated annual MK Brass Quiz! It was a fantastic evening filled with challenging questions and great company. A big shout-out to everyone who participated and put their quiz skills to the test.
