For the second year running MK Brass held an event at Loughton First Manor School as part of the Heritage Open Days. These events are held up and down the country to celebrate England’s history and culture. Every September thousands of volunteers organise events which are free to attend and Milton Keynes Brass was no exception.

Band BBQ brings players and families together in the sunshine
Everyone knows that it isn’t just the music that makes a brass band, it’s the people and the social scene. After 3 years without anything more than very small gatherings, it was great to see nearly 40 people at the “Band Barbeque” this summer.
Milton Keynes Brass put in a red hot performance at Hindhead Knoll
We paid our second visit of the summer to Hindhead Knoll on Sunday, 21 August 2022 as guests of Walton Community Council. This time, the weather was a lot kinder to us with glorious sunshine throughout the afternoon – thankfully, the band recently invested in new hats to keep us feeling and looking cool (well, we think so!) throughout our two-set performance.

With so many weddings cancelled over the last few years, it has been a while since the band have played at one, and so it was an absolute joy to send a small group out to the Bedford Blues Rugby Club for our first one this summer.

On 24 July the band was invited to entertain festival goers at the bi-annual Bedford River Festival. Playing on the Bedford Town Bridge itself, and introduced by the Mayor of Bedford, the band entertained everyone with a wide selection of classical, pop and English folk pieces
Milton Keynes Brass join Parks Trust 30th Anniversary celebrations
A small group from Milton Keynes Brass were asked to perform for the 30th Anniversary of the Parks Trust at the Rose in Campbell Park.
The Parks Trust is the charity that looks after the parks, woodlands and lakes in Milton Keynes and today, they put on some organised walks around the art exhibits in the park and gave away tea and scones (complete with cream and jam!).

Milton Keynes Brass play double concerts for Queens Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
MK Brass had many requests to perform for street parties, schools, and community events over the platinum weekend but in an attempt not to permanently bruise our cornet players’ lips we stuck to just the 2 performances on the Sunday for our full band, with smaller groups performing in schools during the week.
